Registration Agreement

Please read! This isn't the usual wall-of-legalese, it's somewhat concise and readable, written by your system administrator and neighbor.

User eligibility and vetting:
Festival Forum is a discussion area exclusively for residents and owners of Festival Square. Before your new account is activated, your eligibility will be verified by comparing your email address to the Association's published resident directory, or failing that, your system administrator (one of your neighbors!) will contact you directly. This ensures that Festival Forum remains private to the eligible folks affiliated with Festival Square. Your system administrator strives to activate new accounts promptly, but there may be a delay of up to a few days. A working email address is needed to use this forum.

Not for communication with Festival Square COA Board or property management:
Please do not use this forum as a means of contacting the condo association Board of Directors, nor for contacting our property management company, Access Real Estate Services. The Board's and Access's contact info is listed in the Resident Directory, and is posted next to the mailboxes in the clubhouse. There is no assurance of Board members reading or participating in this forum, and Access staff do not have forum accounts.

Civility:
Everyone here is old enough to remember what civility is supposed to look like, and there is an expectation of civility here. On top of simply being common decency, we are neighbors who need to get along. Therefore, there will be little tolerance for disrespectful language directed at individuals affiliated with Festival Square; nor at any categories of people wherever; nor personal attacks, insults, abuse, harassment, obscenities, privacy violations, or threats of any kind. Joking is not an exception. Please strive to stay well within that envelope rather than pushing on its boundaries -- that's what people who genuinely care about kindness and about each other do naturally. Treat others how you wish to be treated, and think before you post. You are solely responsible for your posts.

Other content restrictions:
Do not post illegal content here. Breathe and think slowly before posting on controversial topics, and keep the edges and tone soft. Breathe and think slowly before posting sexually explicit content or profanity. Consider how your neighbors will receive these things. Commercial posts on a personal scale (like offering your homemade crafts for sale) are welcome, but don't be aggressive about it -- again, always consider how your neighbors will receive it. You are solely responsible for your posts.

Account security:
You're responsible for anything posted under your account, so keep your account secure: Choose a strong password and don't share it. If your system administrator has reason to believe your account is compromised, your account may be locked out until the situation can be resolved.

Remedies for inappropriate use:
This forum is neither obligated nor motivated to preserve inappropriate content, and your use of the forum is contingent upon your compliance with these terms. Your system administrator and/or moderators will, at their discretion, delete posts, and/or suspend or ban users, in response to inappropriate use.

Disclaimer of responsibility:
Your system administrator and/or moderators make a good faith effort to enforce these terms, but they do not fact-check posts, and neither they, nor Festival Square, nor its officers, are responsible for any offensive, misleading, or otherwise inappropriate content posted here. This forum is provided and operated on an amateur, volunteer, best-effort, non-profit basis, with no guarantees of continuing existence or availability, correct functioning, data preservation or integrity, data security or privacy, or of providing any kind of satisfaction at all. Use it if you like it, otherwise don't. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Festival Square, its officers, and the operators of this forum for any direct or indirect consequences of using it. This agreement is subject to change; updates will be announced in the forum, and your continued use implies your acceptance of them.

Privacy Policy

Festival Forum is exclusive to Festival Square:
This forum is operated solely as a service for owners and residents of Festival Square. Registration is required and involves confirmation of eligibility. Persons not eligible by owning or living at Festival Square are not granted accounts and can not see nor participate with content posted here. Any exceptions will be announced in the forum with a sticky post.

Information we collect:
Festival Forum does not deliberately hoard your personal information. Information that is collected in the course of registering an account and using the forum includes your username and password, email address, IP address, logs of your activities while interacting with the forum, information provided by your web browser as part of HTTP requests to our server, the messages you post and various metadata about them (e.g., timestamps), and information you choose to enter into your profile. No analytics or telemetry information is collected, nor any information about your activity on other internet sites. Cookies are used to keep you logged in; they are not used for cross-site tracking or anything else.

How we use collected information:
Collected information is used to operate the forum, including sharing with other forum users as is the purpose of the forum. There is no advertising here. The forum operators may examine any information in the course of assisting users, solving technical problems, or applying the registration agreement.

Who we share data with:
The operation of the forum inherently shares information you post, and some other information we collect, with other forum users. Information collected here is not generally shared outside of Festival Square, with the following exceptions: Data is stored on servers belonging to a hosting service outside of Festival Square, though this company has no authorization to use the data for its own purposes. You should be aware that a cyberattack could conceivably cause this information to fall into malicious hands. The forum operators and hosting service will comply with warrants and subpoenas from courts and law enforcement when they believe they are legally required to do so; and will notify users whose privacy may be affected unless legally prohibited from doing so.

Duration of retention:
Collected information is typically retained for the lifetime of the forum, though some routine logs may be deleted periodically.

The bottom line:
The forum is operated on a best-effort, amateur, volunteer, non-profit basis and strives to respect your privacy, but can make no guarantees. Always and everywhere (not just here), avoid posting sensitive personal, financial, or medical information that you would not want leaked.
